VAN NUYS -- The reward has increased to $75, 000 for information leading to the arrest of a second suspect in the death of baby Andrew Garcia.

Police say 23-year-old Ricardo Hernandez may have fired the first of six shots that hit and killed the four-month-old.

Four month old Andrew Garcia was shot and killed as he was being bottle fed by 28-year-old Anna Contreras in Van Nuys Sept. 27.

Contreras, who is pregnant, was also wounded in the gunfire.

The ATF has but up $25,000 to add to the $50,000 reward being offered by the city.

Prosecutors have filed murder charges against Alfonzo Landa, 17, for his alleged role in the infant's death, said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

Landa, who pleaded not guilty to all charges, remained in jail in lieu of $9 million bail.

The shooting took place at 1:00 a.m. Sept. 27, according to the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Station.

Eric Ramirez, 18, and some other friends, including the infant's mother and father, were standing outside the home after a party celebrating a baptism at a Van Nuys banquet hall.

Ramirez is a known gang member. The group got into an argument with two men walking nearby, and one of the two opened fire with a shotgun.

Six shots were fired, hitting Contreras and baby Andrew in the head, police said.

The child was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center, where he later died.

Contreras was taken to the hospital with at least one gunshot wound.

Ramirez, also shot, walked to Valley Presbyterian Hospital. He was treated and released.

The baby's father "is linked to a criminal street gang" and Ramirez is a known gang member, said LAPD Det. James Nuttall.

Contreras and the baby's mother have no criminal history, he said.
