The so-called "Colonel Sanders" suspect appears to be older than 50, heavyset with a goatee and carrying a cane. Kutcher's look-a-like is described only as having black hair and a dark jacket.

Residents also noticed a Ford Explorer with a handicap parking placard and a "Support the Troops" bumper sticker driving around when the thefts occurred. A license plate was not fully visible.

The suspects are also accused of testing door handles of parked cars in the area.

Police say residents should register their bicycles so that they can be returned if they're recovered as stolen property.

A free licensing, home security and bike safety event was planned at the Newport Pier between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday, the Pilot reports.
