LANCASTER -- Sheriffi's officials say a sex offender who disappeared after removing his GPS ankle device has been located.
Daren Marvin Olsen was found miles from the Antelope Valley by police in Venice.
LAPD Pacific Division arrested Olsen after a tip from a homeless individual who recognized his face from a wanted poster.
Olsen is required to wear a G.P.S. monitoring device at all times.
Recently, Olsen removed his monitoring device and left his area of assignment.
Sheriff's officials believe he cut the device off his leg and left it in a hotel room where he had been staying.
An investigator told KTLA that the alarm went off on May 11, indicating he had removed the device.
They've been looking for him ever since.
