LANCASTER -- Sheriff's detectives say they're confident a gang dispute triggered a shooting at a house party that killed a 14-year-old girl and left six others injured.

The gunfire erupted just before 1 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 44600 block of Sixth Street East near Nugent Street.

14-year-old Dominique Peatry, of Lancaster, died from her wounds at the hospital.

The other shooting victims, include two women and four males, who range in age from 13 to 26,

All are Antelope Valley residents. Their names have not been released.

They are all expected to survive.

Witnesses described the chaos as shots rang out, sending people -- including children -- diving for cover.

Bullet casings, shattered windows and victims spread out over the entire block.

Detectives say shots were fired inside and outside the home.

"Physical evidence at the scene would indicate that there was more than one gun involved," said homicide detective Lt. Patrick Nelson.

"What we're looking for is at least one male who appeared to have been in the company of two or three others when he arrived," said Nelson.
