LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- An L.A. Unified School District athletic assistant has been arrested for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student.
27-year-old Jose Rosario Alvarez worked as an athletic assistant at Poly Tech High School.
Police say he had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female student from another LAUSD school.
The LAPD's Juvenile Divisions Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit received information regarding the relationship on Feb. 22.
The relationship was conducted over the internet and in person, according to investigators.
Alvarez has been booked for unlawful sex with a minor and is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center on $20,000 bail.
The school district has removed him from future contact with students.
