LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is calling for body-imaging scanners and bomb-sniffing dogs at U.S. airports.
Villaraigoa, speaking at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Tuesday, said the Transportation Security Administration's policy of keeping international passengers in their seats one our before landing was inadequate.
He also called for tighter security on the ground at all U.S. airports and vowed to step up security at LAX, the nation's sixth busiest airport.
The mayor's comments come more than a wee after a passenger attempted to set off an explosive on an international flight to Detroit.
