LOS ANGELES -- Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has decided to check herself into a substance abuse program after being released from jail late Friday night on $300,000 bail.
Lohan will do so within the next few days, according to a source close to the actress. It was not immediately clear what program she would enter.
She spent 23 days in a court-ordered rehab program at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center last month, following 13 days in a Los Angeles County jail.
Lohan was released from prison Friday after one judge over-ruled another judge's order for the actress to spend at least 30 days behind bars.
The release on bail is granted on several conditions, including that Lohan wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet starting within 24 hours of her release.
Lohan must refrain from drinking and stay out of places where alcohol is primarily sold. She also can not possess any controlled substances.
Lohan was handcuffed and ordered to jail after a brief hearing Friday morning in Beverly Hills following a failed drug test.
Superior Court Judge Elden Fox ordered Lohan to be held in jail -- without bail -- until an October 22 probation hearing.
After the hearing, Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, filed a writ of habeas corpus challenging the court's authority to hold Lohan.
Holley had been prohibited from arguing for bail during the Friday morning hearing when Judge Elden Fox ordered the starlet held until an Oct. 22 hearing.
The 24-year-old actress taken to the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood in an unmarked squad car, surrounded by a police escort.
This would have been her third time behind bars at the same lockup. Her previous stays at the women's jail near downtown Los Angeles lasted 84 minutes, and 14 days.
It was the "Mean Girls" star's first appearance before Fox, who had threatened he would sentence her to a month in jail for each drug test she missed or failed.
According to witnesses she appeared stunned as the judge announced his decision.
Judge Fox set a formal probation violation hearing for October 22nd, during which she will find out her sentence for failing two court-ordered drug tests.
Fox could order her to to spend more time behind bars, order her to rehab or release her.
Her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, asked Fox whether Lohan's full probation revocation hearing could be delayed a week.
"I think your client would rather have it on October 22," Fox said giving the first hint that he intended to send the actress to jail."
Holley rose to argue that bail should be set, but Fox refused.
