Officer Diana Figueroa said the suspect was dangerous and may have been armed.

Officials handed out fliers to residents identifying the suspect as Solano.

Solano was wanted for the shotgun murder of Pedro Martinez in a North Hollywood Alley, police said.

Laurel Canyon Boulevard was shut down north of Ventura Boulevard as part of the search.

The streets have since been reopened.

Students and teachers at Carpenter Ave. Elementary school, Bridges Academy and Country School were asked to remain in their classrooms while the investigation took place.

School officials said all students and staff were safe and accounted for.

The lock down has been lifted at all schools.

An FBI task force was requested to assist the LAPD.
