LOS ANGELES -- Police are offering a $75,000 reward for information on a suspect responsible for badly injuring two young girls in a hit-and-run traffic incident.
Los Angeles Police Department Officials released graphic surveillance video in hopes of finding the hit-and-run driver who struck a teenage girl and a 3-year-old a few days after Christmas.
However, when no one came forward, City Councilwoman Jan Perry granted a reward of $75,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
Police said the driver hit a 14-year-old girl and her 3-year-old niece as they crossed Main Street near 43rd Street at about 6 p.m. on Dec. 28.
The driver, described only as a woman, did not stop to help the girls, who were thrown about 30 feet.
Both victims were seriously hurt and were rushed to the hospital. They have since been released.
The car is described as an older two-door, white sedan.
It may also have damage to the right front headlamp or light cover.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Los Angeles Police Department Central Traffic Division detectives Jose De Leon or Josephine Mapson at 213-972-1845, the division watch commander at 213-972-1853, or toll-free, 24-hour line at 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
