LYNWOOD -- Authorities have released the sketch of a suspected gunman wanted in the shooting and killing of a 66-year-old grandmother of eight during a robbery in Lynwood.
It happened around 10 a.m. Wednesday at the check cashing business the victim owned -- Century Check Cashing -- in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, near State Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Esperanza Serrano of South Gate was shot during what appears to be a robbery, the Sheriff's Department said.
Investigators say Serrano was apparently following a daily routine, including stopping by the bank on the way to her business when she was shot.
"Whoever attacked her may have been watching," said Deputy Jeff Gordon.
Serrano died at the scene, according to the Sheriff's Department.
She reportedly leaves behind eight grandchildren.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic 25-30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, 180-200 lbs., with short hair, thick bushy eyebrows, wearing a black long-sleeve, zippered hooded sweatshirt and black denim jeans.
Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500.
