LYNWOOD -- Sheriff's homicide detectives are investigating a shooting in Lynwood that left a 16-year-old boy dead and another boy wounded.

Ruben Galban, 16, was headed out to get something to eat at a local restaurant around 11:37 p.m. Monday, according to his family.

Galban died at local hospital. His family is trying to cope with the loss.

"It doesn't make sense. I still can't figure out why," the victim's aunt, Wendy Flores, told KTLA. "Why him?"

"I don't think we're going to be able to cope with all this, it's too much," she said.

Galban was the oldest of five children.

Family members say he was not affiliated with a gang.

The second shooting victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His wounds were said to be non life-threatening.
