Gregory Scott Turner, 33 (UCI Police Department / December 15, 2010) |
33-year-old Gregory Scott Turner's body was found Friday afternoon in San Juan Capistrano, according to UC Irvine spokesman Tom Vasich.
Vasich said Turner's death is believed to a suicide.
Turner had been at large since Wednesday, when his 7-year-old daughter called police to their Verano Place home after reportedly witnessing Turner try to strangle her mother.
The couple has a second daughter, 5, who was also reportedly at the apartment at the time.
Turner was wanted by police for attempted murder.
His wife, identified as Ketra Batiste on Turner's Facebook page, was hospitalized and released Friday.
It was the second time in a week that police had been summoned to the Turner home on a report of domestic violence, Vasich said Thursday. Turner was arrested on Dec. 9 after a physical altercation with his wife.
Records show Turner was arrested and released from jail Monday after the first alleged attack. Court records did not show any criminal charges related to that incident.
When police arrived at the home, Turner was gone.
Turner is an undergraduate at UCI studying criminology.
School officials report that Turner told a friend he was suicidal.
The children have been in protective custody and the three will be placed in a temporary domestic violence safe house, officials said.
