MAYWOOD -- Police are trying to determine if a kidnapping suspect who tried to abduct a 13-year-old girl, is the same person wanted for the rape of a Baldwin Park girl.

Police say a man tried to kidnap a teen in Maywood while she walked to school early Tuesday morning, but she ran away.

The suspect was driving a dark colored or black sports utility vehicle, possibly a Ford Expedition or similar car.

The girl says the man followed her on East 52nd Street, then got out and ran after her.

When she eluded him, he then fled in the vehicle.

Baldwin Park police say a 15-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped after being forced into a truck earlier this month.

The victim told police that a man forced her into a pickup truck and drove her around for a several hours before sexually assaulting her.

The suspect was said to be driving an older model Ford truck.

Two sketch artist renderings show a similar looking man.

He is described as a Latino in his mid-30's with short brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information should call Maywood-Cudahy Police Department Detectives Mike Dossey or Raul Camargo at (323) 562- 5005, or Baldwin Park police at (626) 960-7955.
