LOS ANGELES -- Local leaders including Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa were on hand Wednesday for the ground breaking on the Metro Orange Line extension project.
The $215.6-million undertaking will be funded by the new-voter approved Measure R half-cent transportation sales tax.
It will extend the busway from Canoga Park to Chatsworth, adding additional stops in the north-west San Fernando Valley area.
The project is expected to generate 3,000 new jobs.
