Surveillance Video Showing Suspect Tossing Two Molotov Cocktails (SANTA BARBARA SHERIFF'S DEPT.) |
ISLA VISTA, SANTA BARBARA (KTLA) -- The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who threw two Molotov cocktails at a sheriff's outpost near UC Santa Barbara.
Surveillance video released by the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department on Thursday shows the suspect throwing two projectiles at the Isla Vista foot patrol building around 7:45 p.m. on November 15.
The explosive devices did not injure anyone, but they caused damage to the exterior of the building located in the 6500 block of Trigo Road.
The explosion also caused a windshield on a nearby patrol car to shatter, authorities say.
According to a witness, the suspect was wearing all black and took off right after hurling the devices.
On the following day, deputies found graffiti containing references to the attack about 500 yards away from the scene of the crime.
The graffiti included the words "Crazy Irish," which according to officials, could possibly be the suspect's moniker.
If you have any information, you're urged to call the Santa Barbara SheriffÂ’s Department at (805) 681-4100, the sheriffÂ’s anonymous tip line at (805) 681-4171 or the FBI at (805) 642-3995.
