SAN DIMAS (KTLA) -- A woman is in custody after she was caught trying to sneak in drugs to her son at a juvenile detention facility, officials said Sunday.

Rhonda J. Gonzales, 44, was visiting her son at the Camp Glenn Rockey Juvenile Probation Camp on Saturday when Los Angeles Sheriff's deputies found bundles of marijuana inside her purse.

Deputies also found a falsified medial marijuana card, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Deparment.

Gonzales, of Pomona, was visiting her son, who was a ward at the camp.

Camp Glenn Rockey receives about 60 to 70 visiting family members each weekend. According to Sheriff's officials, deputies were on call to assist with visitors searches after a noticeable spike in illegal drugs, primarily marijuana, in the doom rooms of the camp in recent months.

The deputies check for narcotics, weapons or other contraband while visitors remain in the parking lot.

Gonzales was arrested for possession of illegal narcotics at a jail facility and also for an outstanding warrant. She is being held on $35,000 bail.
