MOORPARK-- An elderly man walking along train tracks was hit and killed by an Amtrak train.
It happened around 11:00 Saturday morning near the 14000 block of Avenida Colonia.
Amtrak officials say the victim, identified as 70 year old Alfredo Aguilar, was hit by an eastbound Amtrak train traveling from Camarillo to Simi Valley
Aguilar's family told investigators that he had left his home to take a walk, Sgt. Hammer of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department said.
The train conductor told sheriff's investigators that Aguilar seemed to have fallen on the tracks.
The Amtrak train was traveling 60 miles per hour at the time of the accident and was unable to stop in time.
No one on board the train was hurt.
