SUNLAND, Calif. (KTLA) -- A math teacher has been removed from Mt. Gleason Middle School after allegations of inappropriate contact with three children.
The three children went to police on Thursday to report the inappropriate contact, according to LAPD spokesman Richard French.
The teacher has not been arrested or identified by authorities, but parents say he is an 8th grade Algebra teacher at the school.
Police are currently conducting interviews with the children and investigating the allegations.
The LAUSD released the following statement Friday afternoon:
"As a result of recent allegations, a teacher has been removed from Mount Gleason Middle School," the statement read. "TheLos Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is working with law enforcement and at its direction cannot disclose the details at this time.
"The district takes each and every reported act of misconduct seriously. We are committed to aggressively pursuing each case to determine the truth and, if necessary, initiate the appropriate disciplinary measures."
Crisis counselors are being made available to students who might be impacted by the removal of the teacher.
