MURRIETA -- A brush fire has burned about 80 acres of heavy brush near Lake Elsinore, according to Riverside County fire officials.

The so-called Clinton Fire is burning in the Santa Rosa Ecological Reserve.

The blaze was reported at 1:14 p.m. Wednesday in the La Cresta area, according to Riverside County fire Capt. Rick Griggs.

About 300 firefighters, 33 engines and 8 aircraft were fighting the fire.

It was about 40 percent contained Wednesday evening, with full containment expected by midnight.

No homes are threatened and no evacuations have been ordered.

Fire crews have closed westbound Clinton Keith Road at Calle del Oso in Murrieta.

The area was also experiencing intermittent power outages related to the fire.

One firefighter was hospitalized with minor heat-related injuries.
