NORTH HOLLYWOOD -- A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident in North Hollywood early Monday morning.
The accident was reported around 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of Vanowen Street and Satsuma Avenue, according to Los Angeles police Sgt. Ben Alonso.
A motorist who was driving by saw the body and called 911, Alonso said.
Authorities found the male victim was found laying near the curb. Paramedics were called, but the victim could not be saved.
The accident shut down a portion of Vanowen street for the death investigation for about six hours, but it has been reopened to traffic.
The identity of the victim was withheld pending notification of his next of kin. He was described as a Latino in his mid 20s to early 30s.
There was no crosswalk where the victim was hit, Alonso said, adding that police were investigating the accident.
