Two Officers Hurt in Suspected DUI Crash
STUDIO CITY --Two police officers were hurt and five cars were damaged, including three police cars, in a suspected drunken driving crash in Studio City Friday morning.

The crash was reported around 2:15 a.m. on Ventura Boulevard between Carpenter and Radford avenues in front of CBS Studio Center.

An officer apparently made a traffic stop for suspicion of littering and called another police car to the scene for a fingerprint check of the suspect. The unit that responded did not have a functioning fingerprint device, so another was called to the scene.

That last police car was hit from behind by another car, causing a chain-reaction crash, said Sgt. Kenneth Henkle of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The car that caused the accident was seriously damaged. The police car it his was only moderately damaged.

The three other cars suffered fender and bumper damage, according to Henkle.

Two police officers complained of back pain. They were treated at the scene and then transported to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Burbank.

The driver who caused the accident was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The first driver who was pulled over for suspicion of littering was ticketed, Henkle said.
