LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his leg Tuesday, according to his agent.

The 32-year-old right-hander was treated and released for a gunshot wound to his right leg at a hospital in Nicaragua, agent Adam Katz said.

The wound is said to be minor, and Padilla was discharged after 30 to 40 minutes, according to the agent.

Katz described the incident as a hunting accident.

Some reports out of Nicaragua claimed Padilla was accidentally shot by a companion at a shooting range.

Padilla helped lead the Dodgers to the National League Championship Series, where they eventually lost to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Padilla had a 4-0 record with a 3.20 earned-run average for the Dodgers in the last two months of the regular season.

He's expected to file for free agency in the coming weeks.

Padilla and the Dodgers both expressed interest in having the starting pitcher return to the team prior to the shooting.
