EL CAJON, Calif. -- A former sailor has received a record jury award of $7,553,000.00 for injuries in a crash that shortened his penis by and inch and a half.
27-year old Matthew Wall was hurt in a collision with a courtesy shuttle in 2007.
Wall was riding his motorcycle to work at the Submarine base in San Diego when he collided with a shuttle van from a San Diego based auto dealership.
The van turned left in front of Wall who hit the side of the vehicle.
He was thrown off his motorcycle and suffered a fracture of his pubic ramus bone and a crushing injury to his penis and damage to the nerve and arteries of the penis.
Reconstructive surgery was successful, but permanently altered the length of his penis - shortening it by 1.5 inches.
After a 2 week trial, a San Diego jury found the courtesy van driver at fault, and awarded a $7,553,000.00 verdict to Wall for pain, suffering, medical bills, and loss of income.
