Don Klein (KTLA-TV)
RESEDA -- He's been a fixture at the 'The Pep Boys" store in Reseda for more than six decades.
Thursday, 90 year old Don Klein, turned in his badge and said good-bye to "Manny, Moe and Jack."
It was a friend of "Moe" that hired Klein, when he was just thirty years old.
Klein says he's loved working at 'The Pep Boys" and the company has been very good to him. "It's helped me put two kids through college, while earning a nice living."
This is the second time Klein has tried to say good-bye to 'The Pep Boys". The first time, at age 70, lasted only two weeks. Klein says he was bored and missed work, so he came back.
Just because he's decided to retire from his full time job, that doesn't mean he will be sitting at home, doing nothing.
"I was at the library the other day and saw they needed volunteers. I need to stay busy otherwise I'd die. I've had a few friends who decided to sit at home after retirement and they're no longer here. I think working keeps you young," Klein says.
His co-workers say they'll miss Klein. 'I'm going to make sure I have his cell phone number," said Robert Lam, the manager of the Pep Boy store. "I want to keep in touch. He's always been the guy we go to for answers."
