LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- A 10-year-old boy who vanished Saturday night after having an argument with his stepmother has been found safe, authorities said Monday.

Kevin Rodriguez was located safely at a friend's house and was being reunited with his parents Monday morning.

He had last been seen about 6 p.m. Saturday at his family's home, located at 1510 E. 22nd Street in Los Angeles.

The boy and his stepmother argued, but she felt they had resolved the issue, said a family member. She later found her front door open and Kevin was gone.

The boy speaks only Spanish and has lived in the U.S. for only a few months, police officials said. Family members say he disappeared without any shoes.

Police used bloodhounds to track the boy's movements, but the dogs lost his trail about five blocks away from his home.
