BRAWLEY, Calif. (KTLA) -- A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Saturday morning about three miles from Niland, east of the Salton Sea, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake shook about 1:45 a.m. at a depth of 1.2 miles.

The epicenter was about six miles from Obsidian Butte, seven miles from Calipatria, 30 miles from El Centro and 97 miles from Tijuana, Mexico.
