LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- Prescription drug abuse is on the rise and we've watched some of Hollywood's biggest stars go in and out of rehab in hopes to save their lives. But it's not just celebrities who struggle. KTLA introduced you to Stella -- a young mother who takes 10 to 20 vicodins a day just to function, Now, Stella agrees to seek help and rid her body of all substances.

KTLA is with Stella as she is on the road to sobriety. The young mother says, "I'm a little sad, but looking forward to feeling better and being a new person. Instead of depending on pills all the time."

She is leaving everything behind to face the biggest challenge of her life. “I’m just sad. But I’ll be okay. I’ll be okay.”

Nine a.m. - the morning of Stella's Detox … 'D-Day' has arrived. Tami the Interventionist says "Detox process is to help an addict through the withdrawal symptoms that they’ll be experience when they stop using a substance."

Stella's substance -- vicodin. The powerful painkiller that didn't just take away her discomfort, it took away her spirit. Her parents say "Stella always liked to go wherever anything was going on. smiling, enjoying the kids now she just wants to be in bed. Everything revolves around her getting her fix that she needs, her pills that she needs to get by everyday and not anything else, its robbed the person she really is."

With her belongings packed, the young mother of two must part with her sons. But in a heartbreaking twist, today is also her youngest boy's first birthday.

Ten a.m., Stella's first stop – checking into "a better tomorrow," a drug and alcohol rehab facility. But within seconds of exiting the car, something is wrong, "someone withdrawing from opiates feels like the worst flu ten times over."

After a mild scare, Stella completes the necessary paperwork before getting medically cleared by a doctor to participate in residential detox. “You cannot cure an addiction. An addiction is a disease, just like cancer, diabetes, and this is not a curable disease, it's a treatable disease.”

Upon entering the detox house, Stella gets a brief patdown before her suitcase is searched… but it turns out the biggest surprise isn't in her bag. Is she pregnant?
