Firefighters give oxygen to cats found in burning house (KTLA-TV)

RESEDA -- Firefighters responding to a blaze at a home in Reseda found about a dozen cats inside, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire was reported in the 17900 block of Welby Way at about 8:15 p.m.

The home was filled with heavy smoke when fire crews arrived. They extinguished the blaze in about 10 minutes.

Crews found about a dozen cats inside the home.

Some of them were dead from smoke inhalation, but firefighters and paramedics were able to use oxygen masks to get some of the cats breathing.

It's wasn't clear how many of the cats were saved.

The home owner wasn't home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
