PALOS VERDES ESTATES -- It may be the perfect place to get married, but neighbors of a 6,900 square foot, ocean view estate say enough is enough.

City officials in Palos Verdes Estates agree, and now they're cracking down on weddings at one spectacular seaside mansion.

The gated estate on Paseo del Mar, which sits atop a cliff and overlooks the Pacific Ocean has been the scene of numerous parties this summer.

Bridal entourages, caterers, DJ's, valets and equipments rental companies all streamed onto the estate weekend after weekend.

City officials say that the homeowner has turned the estate into a wedding chapel and that's just not allowed.

The homeowner, Melahat Uzumcu, is facing up to two years in jail and a $4,000 fine. The point is to get her to stop renting out the 6,900-square-foot Malaga Cove home for events, officials said.

Uzumcu is set to be arraigned Tuesday in Torrance Superior Court on charges of violating the zoning code, creating a public nuisance and conducting a business without a license.

Neighbors say it's like living across the street from Staples Center. Others say it's been unbearable to be at home on the weekends.

Since July, Uzumcu's home has been the subject of 18 noise complaints, police Cpl. Greg Robinson said.

The city issued a code enforcement violation notice to Uzumcu on July 21, but the weddings continued. So did police visits.

Robinson said the most recent wedding was Sept. 6.

The property is still listed online as a wedding venue, and as a weekly vacation rental. A video tour of the house calls it an "elegant chateau" that is the "perfect retreat."
