SANTA MONICA -- A Santa Monica police motorcycle officer sustained modern injuries when he crashed into the back of a vehicle he was pulling over Saturday.
The collision happened about 7:50 a.m. on Pacific Coast Highway near the California Incline, an officer said. Police say the driver being pulled over slammed on the breaks, catching the officer by surprise as he ran into the back of the vehicle.
The officer's target was questioned and released.
California Highway Patrol officers investigating the crash closed the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway transition to northbound PCH for 30 minutes.
