SANTA ANA -- A driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after his SUV hit nine people, dragging a woman and her two-year-old daughter more than 50 feet along a street in Santa Ana.
The accident happened around 7:50 p.m. Monday in the 1400 block of West McFadden Avenue, near Graham Lane, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertanga.
Miguel Sandoval, 43, was driving his 1998 Chevy Suburban along West McFadden when he hit a woman and her two-year-old daughter.
Witnesses said Sandoval was cutting across lanes before his vehicle jumped a curb and went onto the sidewalk.
The mother and daughter were trapped under the SUV and dragged about 50 feet.
The car then hit seven other people.
The two-year-old was taken to the hospital, where she remains stabilized in critical condition.
Her mother suffered a broken leg.
Two other adults and another 2-year-old girl suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Sandoval was arrested on suspicion of DUI. He was not injured.
