SANTA CLARITA -- A badly decomposed body found behind an under-construction strip mall in Santa Clarita has been identified as that of missing teenager, Brigett Kennemore.

The body was discovered just after 1p.m. Monday near the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway at the ramp to Henry Mayo Drive.

Coroner's officials confirmed Friday the cause of death was suicide, and detectives found no signs of foul play in her death, L.A. County sheriff's Detective Wayne Holston said.

She had used a bungee cord to hang herself from a tree branch, Holston said.

The 18-year-old was reported missing Oct. 26.

Kennemore, a Valencia High School student, was last seen at 4:20 p.m. Oct. 26 walking eastbound on Hasley Canyon Road, according to deputies at the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff's station.

The missing teen, who suffers from a developmental disability, had just gotten off a Santa Clarita Transit bus just east of Cambridge Avenue, deputies said.

Family members say she may have broken up with her boyfriend during the bus ride.

Donations for the family can be made at any Bank of America branch.

Checks can be written to "The Brigett Kennemore Memorial Fund."
