The pilot has been identified as 60-year-old Robert R. Davenport of Los Angeles.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

There were no other injuries.

KTLA has learned the Cessna 152 was registered to Kim Davidson Aviation Inc. in Santa Monica.

A few hours earlier, another light plane crashed on Catalina Island, killing the pilot and igniting a brush fire that burned dangerously close to several island youth camps.
