SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KTLA) -- Shoppers lined up in their underwear outside a new clothing store in Santa Monica Tuesday, hoping to get dressed for free.

The first 100 people inside Desigual's new Third Street Promenade store got to pick out any one top and one bottom as part of the grand-opening promotion.

The value, depending on what the shoppers grabbed, could exceed $1,000 a person.

Shoppers lined up around 7 a.m. and the first 100 people were counted about an hour later.

Folks standing in line by 9 a.m. after the first 100 shoppers were expected to receive a 50% discount on same-day purchases.

This isn't the first time the Barcelona, Spain-based retailer has done this. The company held a similar promotion at a store in New York City last year.
