NORTHRIDGE -- Actor Nick Palatas has apparently had an unfortunate run-in with a table saw.
According to his manager, the "Scooby-Doo" actor, cut off a large portion of his thumb.
Palatas, who plays 'Shaggy' in the direct-to-DVD film, was working with a table saw Tuesday afternoon in Northridge when the saw struck a knot in the wood and suddenly jumped, cutting off a portion of his thumb.
On his way to the hospital, Nick called his mother and asked her to go to his home and retrieve his thumb.
She did so, but doctors at Northridge Hospital concluded it could not be reattached.
Palatas has reportedly requested the help of a top Hollywood plastic surgeon to determine whether his thumb can be fixed.
