NEWHALL -- Sheriff's deputies have released composite sketches of suspects in two recent attempted kidnappings in the Santa Clarita Valley.

In one case, a 15-year-old Canyon Country girl was walking along Meadowridge Drive from Newhall Avenue in Newhall about 6:30 a.m. last Monday when a man in a white compact car pulled up alongside her and tried to engage her in conversation.

When she refused to get inside, the man pulled his car into a driveway in front of her and grabbed her arm. She managed to get away.

The suspect was described as a bald Latino in his 40s with dark complexion, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds.

A similar incident occured shortly after 3 p.m. last Monday in the 29000 block of Las Brisas Road in the unincorporated area of Tesoro Del Valle.

An 11-year-old boy was walking westbound when a youth wearing a white hooded sweatshirt got out of a passenger side of a car and ordered the boy to get inside.

The boy ran and the suspect got back into the car.

The suspect vehicle made a U-turn when the boy reached for his cell phone and called his mother.

Anyone with information about either case should call (661) 255-1121.
