ORANGE-- A man accused of attacking a body guard for "American Idol" host, Ryan Seacrest at a charity event in Orange has been sentenced, police say.
Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr., 25, will face 15 days in jail and 3 years of probation after he plead guilty in Orange County Superior Court Friday to three misdemeanors: assault, battery and possession of a switchblade knife.
Uzomah choked a security guard to the point of nearly rendering him unconscious, said Sgt. Dan Adams of the Orange Police Department.
After Seacrest finished making a charity appearance at the Children's Hospital of Orange at around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Uzomah allegedly tried to get into this car, police said.
When security guards blocked Uzomah's entry into Seacrest's car, he refused to leave and a fight ensued, according to Adams.
Neither the the suspect nor the bodyguard required medical attention after the altercation, Adams said.
Ryan Seacrest left in the vehicle as the incident occurred and was not involved or aware of the disturbance, assault, or arrest.
Uzomah was ordered to stay away from Seacrest at his Friday arraignment.
