SAN FRANCISCO -- Power has been restored to all 8,600
customers who lost electricity after an underground explosion and
fire.
Pacific Gas and Electric said the blast occurred around 11:30 a.m. Friday. Police cordoned off a two-block area, and firefighters sprayed foam into the manhole.
There were no reports of injuries.
Andrew Souvall, a spokesman for PG&E, says the final few hundred customers still without power on Saturday had it restored just after 6 p.m.
After the fire on Friday, authorities advised people in the area to stay inside for several hours and residents complained of a horrible smell.
