Sheriff's Deputy Gets Jail Time for Groping Teen
FULLERTON -- A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy has been sentenced to a year in jail for groping a teenage girl whose father was in the hospital.

James Joseph Doyle, 45, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge of lewd acts with a minor after a Fullerton Superior Court judge reduced the charge from a felony.

Prosecutors say he groped the 15-year-old daughter of his friend, who was in the hospital at the time. The girl told her mother, but they didn't report the incident to police until after the girl's father had died.

Doyle was also sentenced to three years probation, and will be required to register as a sex offender.

He has been relieved from duty by the sheriff's department.
