Fatal officer-involved shooting in Simi Valley (KTLA-TV)

SIMI VALLEY -- An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday on an armed man shot and killed by a police officer in Simi Valley.

The shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. Saturday near Sycamore Drive and Heywood Avenue.

An officer was responding to a call about a domestic dispute, when he encountered 22-year-old Jaime Daniel Delgado, of Simi Valley, in the middle of the street, police said.

A confrontation ensued, and the officer shot Delgado. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was injured in the incident.

An initial investigation revealed that Delgado was armed with three knives.

It's unclear if the man was connected to the initial disturbance call.

Neighbors reported hearing four or five shots, but authorities have not said how many shots were fired.

The name of the officer is not being released while the investigation is ongoing.

The Simi Valley Police Department and the Ventura County District Attorney's Office are leading the investigation.
