Man shot to death after leaving club in South L.A. (KTLA-TV) |
SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- A suspected gang-related shooting early Monday morning left a young man dead near a South Los Angeles motorcycle clubhouse
The man was walking about 1 .a.m. near the intersection of W. 87th Place and Broadway -- near the Rising Sons Motorcycle Club's clubhouse -- when a black man walked up to him and fired a gun several times.
"Several shots were fired, and our victim sustained a fatal gunshot wound," said Lt. Tom McMullin, of LAPD's Criminal Homicide Gang Unit.
Paramedics rushed the unidentified victim to the nearby California Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The shooting suspect -- who has not been identified or described by police -- ran away after the shooting, police officials said.
Investigators said they do not have a motive for the shooting.
The Rising Sons Motorcycle Club meets at 8 p.m. on Sundays at the clubhouse, according to a Web notice.
Police said they do not know if the shooting was related to the club.
