SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- Seven people were shot at a benefit party for a slain friend in SouthLos Angelesearly Saturday morning.
The multiple shooting happened at a single family home on the 9600 block of Holmes Avenue at 1:15 a.m.
The event was arranged to offset funeral costs for 22-year-old Jesus Sanchez that was reportedly murdered in the same neighborhood, birthday girl Cathy told KTLA.
Cathy said she and her female friend were dancing with others when a gunman opened fire, striking 7 partygoers in their 20s.
"It was a mess," one neighbor recalled. "Everyone was running like crazy."
All 7 victims, 6 of them women, are expected to survive.
The gunmen were described two male Hispanics fleeing the scene in a gray Impala.
