LOS ANGELES -- Spokeo.com says it's "not your grandma's phonebook," and that may be why the website is creating privacy concerns.

The site takes information from your social networking sites, like Facebook and Google, and puts it all in one location.

You can search by name or email and pull up that person's phone number, family member's names, hobbies, credit rating, pictures and much more.

For a small fee, you can join and get even more detailed information.

Spokeo.com started in 2006 as a way for friends to stay in contact with friends, according to creator Harrison Tang.

Some say they're worried the information could fall into the wrong hands.

"I wouldn't want this to be open to just anybody to just peek and poke wherever they wanted to," Catrina Matteson told KTLA.

The site accurately pulled up Matteson's current address as well as a former residence and other personal information.

Other people who tested the site said their information was incorrect.

Some argue that even information that's wrong could potentially sway prospective employers from hiring them.

The best advice is to avoid posting personal information online.

Spokeo says if you're worried, there is a quick and simple way to remove your information from the site.

But, critics say it's more complicated and requires you to input your email address.
