LOS ANGELES -- A 51-year-old food vendor collapsed and died in the press box at Dodger Stadium Tuesday, according to police.
The man, identified as John Foster, was there working for Dodgers contractor Farmer Brothers Coffee.
Coroner's investigators told police the man probably died from a heart attack.
Paramedics were called to the stadium about 1:30 p.m., and police were then notified, according to Officer Greg Baek of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
Dodgers officials issued a statement: "We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of Mr. Foster as our thoughts and prayers are with him at this very difficult time."
The death came as preparations were underway for the National League Division Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals, which begins Wednesday.
