LOS ANGELES -- Prosecutors will not file charges against former USC and Houston Rockets basketball player Stais Boseman, who was arrested Sunday on suspicion of carjacking.

The district attorney’s office filed a document Tuesday that said investigators had insufficient evidence to charge 35-year-old Boseman.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department Wilshire division arrested the former USC guard at around 3:00 a.m. Sunday for his connection with a carjacking in the area, according to spokesperson April Harding.

The alleged victim was in the car with her boyfriend when Boseman allegedly jumped into the vehicle and drove off.

But police were unable to contact the woman and her boyfriend, who gave police bogus phone numbers, said Depty District Attorney James Prudhomme.

Prosecutors say Boseman had agreed to drop the boyfriend’s $20 debt to him if he used the car.

Boseman was an all-star athlete in Inglewood's Morningside High School, having led the basketball team to a state championship in 1993. He was named a Parade All-American for his tenure as the football team's quarterback.

At USC, Boseman averaged 11.9 points and 3.5 rebounds from 1993-97, and started 26 of 27 games in his senior year.

He played briefly for the NBA's Houston Rockets after college, as well as several minor league teams.
