FULLERTON -- A man whose car was stolen from in front of his office Sunday is offering a $1,500 reward -- not for the car, but for the safe return of a Bible that was inside it.
Henry Jones says he shared the Bible with his late wife, Vi, who died in August after a seven year battle with cancer.
Jones says he and his wife read the Bible together during their married life, and brought it with them on various trips around the world.
The Bible has quite a history, according to Jones. It was on the pulpit in Methodist founder John Wesley's chapel in London, inside the New Room -- the Methodist's oldest house of worship in Bristol, England -- and in the Vatican.
Jones's Escape Hybrid was stolen sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. from in front of 120 W. Commonwealth Ave., where Jones works as an insurance agent.
Jones said he accidentally left the car's front door unlocked, with the keys inside.
The car is dark gray with license plate number is 5ZXF380.
Anyone with information about the car theft is asked to call Jones at 714-526-3344 or 714-743-8050.
