LOS ANGELES -- Swedish hip-hop artist "Jassy" was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison in the 2008 road rage death of another musician on a Hollywood street.
David Moses Jassy, 35, was convicted in February of second degree murder and other charges for the death of jazz musician John Osnes.
Jassy was also convicted of assault by force likely to produce great bodily injury and battery with serious bodily injury.
He was acquitted of the greater charge of first-degree murder, as well as charges of assault with a deadly weapon and leaving a traffic collision resulting in death or injury.
Jassy was accused of running over Osnes during an argument in Hollywoodon Nov. 23, 2008.
Jassy was driving his SUV on Sunset Boulevard when he nearly hit Osnes, who was crossing the street.
According to witnesses, Osnes yelled at Jassy and slapped his SUV.
At that point, Jassy exited his car, punched and kicked Osnes before eventually running him over with the vehicle.
Prosecutors say the incident was on obvious case of road rage and several witnesses agreed, saying Jassy was the lone aggressor.
But during testimony, Jassy claimed the entire incident was self-defense.
He said he got out of his car to check for damage but got involved in the fight when Osnes threw a punch at him.
Jassy is a popular rapper and producer from Stockholm, Sweden who was trying to make it big in the U.S. before the incident.
