FULLERTON, Calif. -- An Orange County woman has been found guilty of trying to kill her newborn daughter by dumping her in a trash bin.
Shawn Kelli Sepulveda was convicted Wednesday of attempted murder and child abuse and endangerment.
Prosecutors say the 39-year-old Laguna Niguel woman hid her pregnancy then abandoned her healthy baby girl because her husband was not the infant's father.
Sepulveda's other daughter discovered the baby in a trash bin at the family's apartment complex.
The baby was transported to a hospital and taken into protective custody.
Sepulveda faces up to life in state prison at her Sept. 24 sentencing.
