LOS ANGELES -- An investigation has been launched after a group of armed robbers stormed an apartment complex near UCLA and tied up six students before taking their belongings, police said.
The home-invasion robbery was reported around 1:15 a.m. Thursday at the Midvale Plaza luxury apartments in Westwood, near the UCLA campus.
Six students say four masked men, armed with a shotgun, stormed their apartment and tied them up using shoelaces.
"They told us all to lie on the floor. They told us to put our hands behind our backs," one victim told KTLA.
The suspects stole cash, laptops, phones and other belongings before running from the building.
The students, who were studying for finals at the time, were shaken by the incident but otherwise unharmed.
The unidentified victim said it appeared the suspects were more concerned about the loot than they were about hurting anyone.
Police provided descriptions for at least two of the suspects.
One was described as a black man, about 25 years old, 5'10" tall, 240 lbs. with an unkempt beard. He was said to have been wearing dark clothing and white gloves.
A second suspect was described as an Asian man about 25 years old, 5'10" tall, 15 lbs. wearing a gray sweatshirt, dark pants and black gloves.
