LOS ANGELES -- An elderly woman died early Thursday after being pulled from a burning apartment building in Van Nuys, according to fire officials.
The fire was reported at 2:17 a.m. in a two-story apartment building in the 14100 block of West Erwin Street, said LAFD spokesman Erik Scott.
It took firefighters about 15 minutes to knock down the blaze.
Inside one of the units, firefighters found a woman, about 65 years old, not breathing and with no pulse, Scott said.
Firefighters performed CPR on the woman before an ambulance took her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The cause of death was not immediately known.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
